Democratic fundraising in state races continues to lag behind that of Republicans, despite rosy news for House and Senate candidates.
An analysis by Democratic group Forward Majority shows that in the 20 most competitive statehouse pickup targets in Texas, Democrats have raised just 47% of what their Republican counterparts have raised. In Florida, Democrats have been outraised by a factor of over 6-1. Outside groups attempt to fill the gap: Bloomberg-backed Everytown for Gun Safety announced a plan this week to spend $60 million on the 2020 elections, focusing on races from state legislatures to the presidency.
